Three new members have been elected to the Prince Edward Island Potato Board. Stuart Affeck and Harris Callaghan were elected following a vote count on July 6. Rodney Dingwell was elected by acclamation. The results were announced by Charles Coles, Returning Officer with the Marketing Council, following a vote count on July 6. The deadline for the return of ballots was June 30.
In the Central District, Stuart Affleck and David MacMurdo contested the seed producer position. One hundred and eight (108) ballots were counted from the 189 registered producers of this district. In the Western District, Harris Callaghan and Peter Griffin contested the tablestock producer position. Ninety-five ballots (95) were counted from the 142 registered producers in the district.
In the Eastern District, Rodney Dingwell, Marie, was elected to represent the processing producer position.
The Prince Edward Island Potato Board consists of nine members, three from each district consisting of one seed producer, one table stock producer, and one processing producer. Members are elected to three-year terms with the positions being staggered with respect to region and sector representation.
