Buy...PEI Launches New Promotional Campaign

The province of Prince Edward Island is launching an extensive Buy...PEI summer campaign aimed at increasing both Islanders' and visitors' awareness of the wonderful selection of food, beverages and hand-crafted products produced right here on Prince Edward Island.

The campaign consists of a Buy...PEI Cruiser visiting locations across the province where PEI products are being made and/or sold. The location of the cruiser and a profile of the Island producers and their product will be promoted through daily radio reports. While on location, the Buy...PEI Cruiser will be handing out samples of Island products including Seaman's Beverages and Humpty Dumpty Potato Chips. Consumers will also be invited to fill out a ballot for a chance to win a basket filled with Island-made products. In addition to visiting food and craft producers, the Buy...PEI Cruiser will also make stops at various festivals and exhibitions across the Island this summer.

"There is so much talent among our Island food and craft producers, and Prince Edward Island products are second to none, " said Mike Currie, Minister of Development and Technology." The Buy...PEI Cruiser campaign will highlight this talent and increase the awareness among Islanders and visitors as to how many quality products are being made here on our Island."

The Buy...PEI promotion began as an initiative of the Women's Institute of Prince Edward Island in 1994. The original campaign included a product identification campaign and product sampling.

The Buy...PEI cruiser will be visiting Island locations from June 27 until Labour Day weekend. For more information, please contact Jennifer Evans at Prince Edward Island Business Development at 569-7690.
