Prince Edward Island National Park To Be Featured

The Prince Edward Island National Park will be the subject of a half-hour program to be aired on the Discovery Channel on February 12 at 8:00 pm. Good Earth Productions of Toronto travelled across the country to research and produce the Great Canadian Parks documentary series, covering parks from the immensely popular Banff National Park to the lesser-known Gwaii Haanas in British Columbia.

The PEI portion of the series was filmed last June and cameraman, Ihor Macijiwsky, is excited about some of the dramatic beach footage he was able to collect. Star wildlife residents, such as the piping plover and the great blue heron, are featured as well. But the program covers more than the dunes and ecological systems, it also reports on the cultural history of the park, with visits to Green Gables House and Dalvay-by-the-Sea Hotel.

Veteran Canadian journalist, Peter Trueman, hosts the series. Many viewers will remember the Sackville, New Brunswick native as head of CBC Television News and the author of Smoke and Mirrors, a book about his experiences in the media.
