May 30, 2001 * Health and Social Services [to Nov 2005] Health and Social Services Minister Jamie Ballem advised today that the third-ranked proponent in the qualification process to construct the new East Prince Health Facility will be offered the opportunity to respond to the request for proposals to construct the new facility. The announcement follows confirmation today by the East Prince Health Facility Project Planning Team that Ashford Investment Inc. are withdrawing from the process. Ashford Investment Inc. was the second-ranked proponent after East Prince Partnership's proposal did not pass the financial assessment phase of the evaluation process. "We appreciate the quick response provided by Ashford Investment Inc.," said the minister. "We are now able to promptly proceed with the next steps in the request for proposal process. "Atlantic Health Group, the third qualifying proponent, will be offered the opportunity to submit a proposal and will be asked to indicate their intentions within the next week." "This is a major project for our province and we will continue to follow fair process in ensuring we have a cost effective, high quality health care facility in Summerside," said Minister Ballem.Media Contact: Mary Beth Roach
