Correctional Officers' Week

* Office of the Attorney General [to Jan 2010]
The Attorney General is proud to endorse this week as International Correctional Officer's Week. There are approximately 90 Correctional Officers employed with the Office of the Attorney General of Prince Edward Island at the Provincial Correctional Centre in Winsloe and the Prince Correctional Centre in Summerside.

"Correctional Officers serve the dual roles of security and rehabilitation with inmates. Their goal is to protect our communities while assisting in the process of reintegrating offenders back into society, says Attorney General, Jeffrey E. Lantz. "Our correctional officers provide a valuable and necessary service for all Islanders and their efforts are to be recognized and applauded."

In recognition of Correctional Officers' Week, the public are invited to attend an open house at the Provincial Correctional Centre on Friday, June 15, 2001 from 1 - 4 p.m. In addition, tours of the Provincial Correctional Centre are available to the general public, throughout the year, with prior notice.
