Warning Issued Regarding Build Up of Snow

* Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environment [to Oct 2003]
With rain forecast for Monday, the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environment has issued an advisory to the general public to remove any build-up of snow from around their oil tanks.

As the temperature rises, the snow gets heavier and the additional weight can cause the fuel lines to snap.

The department responded to four oil spills immediately after the last mild spell Tuesday. Since January 7, there have been some 40 reported domestic oil spills directly related to the winter weather conditions and snow accumulation.
