Health and Social Services Minister Jamie Ballem extended congratulations to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation today for their successful annual campaign which surpassed the one-million-dollar mark for the first time this year.

"This is an outstanding achievement which speaks volumes about the generosity of Islanders, the Foundation leadership, and the excellent care provided at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital," said the minister.

He advised that the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation is recognized across the country for its comprehensive programs. "Not many foundations have been able to achieve this level of success in such a short period of time, and especially in a small province. Through their annual giving and planned giving programs, the foundation plays a major role in ensuring the hospital is well-equipped now and in the future," said the minister.

He congratulated co-chairs Leone Bagnall and John Ives, and their campaign team, for achieving a major milestone and acknowledged the support provided to the campaign by the hospital family which includes hospital staff, physicians and volunteers.

"Through such commitment and cooperation, the QEH Foundation and other Island hospital foundations continue to build on the long and proud tradition of community involvement in our hospitals," said the minister.
