Prices for drinking milk products that include homogenized, partly-skimmed two percent and one percent, and skim milk will increase on February 1 by three cents a litre for wholesale prices and five cents for home delivery prices. The announcement was made today by Ken MacLellan, Chair of the Prince Edward Island Marketing Council.
"The increase in prices was made to reflect increased costs that producers and processors face, particularly increased energy costs," said Mr. MacLellan.
Producer costs are tracked by a national cost of production formula, while processor costs are based on a study carried out in the province.
The full schedule of prices will be published in this week's Royal Gazette. Retail prices for milk may vary from store to store as the Council does not establish the price at the retail level.
