PEI Energy Corporation to Host Workshops on Energy Conservation

* Development and Technology [to Apr 2008]
The Energy and Minerals section of the Department of Development and Technology is hosting a series of workshops to help Island businesses cut their energy costs. The workshops will introduce a new interactive CD - Rom called $mart Energy Management. The CD Rom is designed to help businesses assess their own energy consumption and find ways to reduce costs.

"We recognize that the cost of energy is a big concern for everyone right now," said Mike Currie, Minister of Development and Technology. "Through these workshops we hope we can help businesses, not just right now but over the long term as well, to reduce costs and work more efficiently."

The CD Rom combines information about three different types of energy costs. One section looks at power use, another at thermal energy or heating and the last at refrigeration and air conditioning. The workshop will explain to business owners how to use the CD Rom to do their own preliminary energy assessments.

The workshops are open to any business in the province. The workshop and the CD Rom are free. Workshops are being held at the following locations:

Summerside -- Linkletter Inn and Convention Centre on Tuesday, February 20, 2001. Session 1 will be held 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Session 2 will be held 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Charlottetown -- Inn on the Hill on Wednesday, February 21, 2001. Session 3 will be held 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Session 4 will be held 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
