Municipal Election Wizard

* Development and Technology [to Apr 2008]
The Province of Prince Edward Island web site has added a new feature that will benefit all those voting in the forthcoming municipal elections. Internet users can find out where they should vote on November 6th by putting in their address.

It is a simple and easy-to-use system that will help people to determine the exact location of their poll. The information is also linked to interactive maps so people can see the physical location of the poll, including street names.

"This is part of my department's efforts to keep Islanders informed about every aspect of the democratic process," said Mike Currie. "The PEI Government website is the most comprehensive in the country, and we are very proud of it."

Merrill Wigginton, Chief Electoral Officer, noted "This is an excellent way for Islanders to find out where they should go to vote. I should also point out that, on the night of the elections on November 6th, the Elections PEI web site will contain up to the minute poll-by-poll results for the Charlottetown, Cornwall, Stratford and Summerside elections which are the responsibility of Elections PEI. I would encourage all Islanders to keep abreast of those municipal results by visiting the site on Monday evening."

The municipal election mapping feature was developed in partnership with the Provincial Treasury department. Their databases and mapping information are the foundation for the interactive mapping systems.
