Publication of Specific Learning Outcomes for Mathematics from Entry to Grade 8

The ministers of education of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador are pleased to announce the publication of specific learning outcomes for mathematics from entry to grade 8 for francophone students in Atlantic Canada.

The specific learning outcomes for mathematics were developed jointly by the departments of education of the four Atlantic provinces under the auspices of the Atlantic Provinces Education Foundation. They set out the learnings that Atlantic-region francophone students are required to master from entry to grade 8 in mathematics. The ministers recognize that this collaboration led departments of education in the development of high quality outcomes, thus meeting the needs and expectations of the four provinces.

The implementation of these specific learning outcomes is the responsibility of each province according to its curriculum implementation procedures.

The Atlantic Provinces Education Foundation is an agency of the Council of Maritime Premiers. It is composed of the ministers of education of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. Its goal is to promote regional cooperation in education.
