McDonald's PEI Challenge Comes To Mill River Golf Course

* Tourism [to Jan 2010]
Tourism PEI announced today that the Canadian Tour will visit Mill River Golf Course in Woodstock, PEI, for the second time for the McDonald's PEI Challenge, August 24-27, 2000.

The Tour's first visit in 1997 provided an outstanding quality of play and the event generated significant exposure for the Mill River Golf Course. Events such as the McDonald's PEI Challenge have facilitated Mill River to be recognized as number 50 of the top 100 courses in Canada as determined by Score Magazine's recent rating. The Province is pleased to see the Tour return to the Island for the second year in a row, with last years event being held at the Brudenell River Golf Course.

Tourism PEI has developed a strong working relationship with the Canadian Tour and in the past has welcomed the opportunity to host such well-known players as Canada's own Mike Weir prior to his moving to the PGA. This year promises to bring some great golf to the course as well.

The PEI Special Olympics receives 100 percent of the proceeds from the ticket sales of this event. All ticket purchasers also receive a ballot for a set of Wilson Fat Shaft irons, which will be given away on the final day of the event.
