The Cabinet of Premier Pat Binns will continue its routine of meeting outside of Charlottetown during the summer months. Members of Cabinet will convene in Alberton for a formal meeting on Tuesday, July 25, 2000. A portion of the day will involve discussions with local community leaders.
"This began shortly after we were first elected in 1996, and has proven to be a great opportunity for our Government to keep in touch with Island communities. Travelling outside of Charlottetown allows members of Cabinet to collectively hear, first hand, about important local issues. That has always been a priority to us as a government," stated Premier Binns.
The Cabinet will hold its regular weekly meeting at the Alberton Community Centre, and then will meet with Mayor David Campbell and members of the Alberton Town Council. Following, Cabinet and Cletus Dunn, MLA for Alberton-Miminegash, will assemble with local community and business leaders from Alberton and the surrounding area. A tour of Westech Agricultural Ltd. is scheduled for the afternoon.
"Since 1996 we have had the chance to hold Cabinet meetings in nearly 20 different Island communities. There is no better way to gain insight into the ways in which we can strengthen the partnership between the provincial government and communities," said the Premier.
