Mr. Bertram Webster has been elected to represent the Central District on the Prince Edward Island Potato Board. Charles Coles, Returning Officer reported that Mr. Webster was elected following the ballot count of July 7, 2000. The deadline for the return of the ballots was June 30.
In the Central District, Alex Affleck and Bertram Webster contested the table stock position. One hundred twenty-eight (128) ballots were counted from the 192 registered producers of this district. Mr. Webster, having the majority of votes, was declared elected.
In the Western District, John Wallace of Elmsdale was elected by acclamation to represent the processing position and in the Eastern District, Ross Lewis of York was elected by acclamation to represent the seed position.
The Prince Edward Island Potato Board consists of nine members, three from each district consisting of one seed producer, one table stock producer, and one processing producer. Members are elected to three-year terms with the positions being staggered with respect to region and sector representation.
