Island Companies Successful On First Day Of Team Canada Atlantic Mission

On the first day of meetings for Team Canada Atlantic, Island companies reported significant leads totalling $US 3 million.

Of yesterday's 15 meetings in Massachusetts, three companies received orders for products, one company was placed on a vendor's list for Harvard University, and another was short-listed for a major sales contract.

Cardinal Manufacturing, a Summerside-based company specializing in vinyl products, was one of the companies reporting success yesterday. Cardinal Manufacturing President, Dennis Arsenault, had a meeting with a health care product distributor who was very impressed with his line of products.

"I was pleased to have an initial order with such a strategic customer," said Arsenault. "By making this initial contact, it should result in further sales for Cardinal, as this client distributes a variety of related products to all of New England." He added, "I hope all of my meetings on this trip go as well."

This is day two of the mission, with companies visiting potential clients in Rhode Island. Over the next three days, Island companies will go on an additional 80 meetings.

The Team Canada Atlantic mission is an initiative of the Council of Atlantic Premiers in cooperation with the Alliance of Manufacturers and Exporters. The trade mission is being funded by the Government of Canada through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
