Even though there's still snow outside, the 2000 marketing campaign for the tourism industry on Prince Edward Island is about to begin. Minister of Fisheries and Tourism, Kevin J. MacAdam, together with the Tourism Marketing Authority Co-Chair, Mr. James Tingley, will join representatives of the tourism industry at the Confederation Centre of the Arts at 7:00 p.m., on February 15 to see first-hand how we will market the Island in this, the first year of the new millennium.
The main stage presentation details the commercial endeavours and marketing strategies set out by the Tourism Marketing Authority in partnership with Tourism PEI. Island tourism operators and interested parties who attend the show will see the new commercials for 2000 and receive an information kit with updated publications, fresh off the press. "We invite everyone who is interested to come to the Confederation Centre of the Arts and see the creative displays of advertising that portray the Island in other areas of our country and beyond," noted Minister MacAdam. "This is where all the work from the Tourism Marketing Authority and our department comes together, bringing direction to our marketing strategy for the year."
This annual event provides a great opportunity for professionals who work long and hard during the summer months to come together as an industry, view the marketing and media plan, and enjoy a variety of Island entertainment. A trade show is organized in the foyer of the Centre with participants such as Quality Tourism Services, Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership, Golf PEI, Atlantic Tourism Hospitality Institute, Young & Rubicam, the Internet Guide to PEI, Fisheries and Tourism staff along with various government officials, as well as representatives from tourism industry operations. Those attending can wander through the trade show and examine services and products designed to enhance any tourism establishment on the Island.
