Island seniors who have lived in three centuries will be honoured in a special ceremony at 1 p.m. on January 5, 2000, at Government House.
There are 35 special citizens who were born in the 1800's, lived through the 1900's and will continue to enjoy life in the year 2000. They will be recognized with a special presentation sponsored by the Provincial Millennium Committee.
The awards will be presented by the Premier and Lieutenant Governor. Those who are not able to attend this presentation will receive the award at a later date.
Premier Pat Binns stated that these special citizens have been part of the fabric that has held our communities together for years. It is this kind of determination and hard work that has built our province into what it is today. It is a pleasure for me, as Premier, to recognize these individuals early in the Millennium.
