Phil MacDougall, CEO of the Workers Compensation Board of PEI, today announced the appointment of two additional Occupational Health and Safety Officers, bringing the Board's total complement to five.
Leo McDonald joins WCB's Occupational Health and Safety team in Summerside, located in the Access PEI Building, responsible for safety inspections and investigations throughout the western part of the Island.
Jim McInnis assumes responsibility for eastern PEI, working out of the Occupational Health and Safety Division located in the Board's main office at 14 Weymouth Street in Charlottetown.
The work of WCB's five Safety Officers is complemented by an Industrial Hygiene Technologist and an Educational Officer, both newly appointed earlier this year.
Along with the development and implementation of a policy and procedures manual, the new appointments now complete the restructuring of WCB's Occupational Health and Safety Division as recommended by the Grant Mitton report, commissioned by the Board.
Said Mr. MacDougall, "This is just one more step in putting the emphasis where it needs to be, on the prevention of the workplace accidents and the costs they cause, both emotional and economical."
