National Swim Week: September 15 - 22

Honourable Chester Gillan, Minister responsible for Sport, today announced that National Swim Week is being celebrated September 15-22, 1999. During National Swim Week, swim clubs and aquatics facilities across Canada will be promoting swimming as a sport, recreational activity for all ages and therapeutic exercise.

"Swim Week provides an ideal opportunity for Islanders to take part in the various swim programs offered across the province," said Minister Gillan. "Swimming is a sport that offers something for all ages and all skill levels."

In Prince Edward Island, the swimming clubs in Summerside, Charlottetown and Montague will be hosting public events such as introductory swim programs and open houses.
