September 3, 1999 * Education [to Apr 2008]The popular Island Acadian musical group Barachois will perform tonight before the 52 heads of state of La Francophonie and over 500 dignitaries gathered at the 1999 Francophone Summit in Moncton, NB. Barachois will be among several Acadian artists entertaining at tonight's concert performance, The Heart of a People - 400 years later: Le coeur d'un peuple-400 ans plus tard. Honourable Chester Gillan, Minister responsible for Culture, congratulates Barachois on being selected to perform at this prestigious event. "The Government of Prince Edward Island is proud to have Barachois entertaining the summit delegates," said Minister Gillan. "Being selected to perform at an event of this magnitude certainly speaks volume about the outstanding musical and artistic talents of Barachois group members – Louise, Albert, Hélène and Chuck."
