The provincial government will help homeowners cover the cost of an energy audit to determine how they can lower their energy bills.
Efficiency PEI will offer homeowners $150 toward the $300 cost of an EnerGuide home energy evaluation, which will be carried out by HouseMaster Inspection Services. Efficiency PEI provides Islanders with advice and assistance to promote sustainable energy practices.
“We are committed to helping Islanders reduce their energy use and to save money by
making their homes more efficient,” said Transportation, Infrastructuure and Energy
Minister Paula Biggar. “I encourage all home owners to participate in this program and
to increase the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes. “
An EnerGuide home evaluation will provide useful information about home energy performance and will help residents make informed decisions when operating, renovating or purchasing a home. Residents will better understand how their daily activities influence energy consumption and determine which upgrades will best suit their properties.
If homeowners proceed with efficiency upgrades after the audit, Efficiency PEI will further subsidize those costs by enhancing the corresponding rebates. Participants will see rebates on eligible efficiency equipment increased by $50 per upgrade, to a maximum of $150.
