Dr. Abi Oladipo began working in Charlottetown this month after relocating to Prince Edward Island from Hertfordshire, England.
Health and Wellness Minister Robert Henderson welcomed Dr. Oladipo to the province. “After practicing in several short term locum positions here this year, Dr. Oladipo made the decision to move to the Island and take up a permanent position,” said the minister. “We are very pleased to extend a warm PEI welcome to the Oladipo family.”
Dr. Oladipo visited Prince Edward Island for the first time in the summer of 2015.
“I was struck by the sheer beauty and topography of the Island on my first visit. The beaches, countryside, harbour, golf courses and city life are all within a few minutes. For a small Island, there is lots to do; and being artistically inclined, the Island offers a great deal of activities with the theatres, plays and culinary choices,” he said. “My impression was ‘crowned’ by the warm welcome of the people of the Island and the instant camaraderie struck with my colleagues in the Obstetrics/Gynecology department. There is a transparent cohesiveness and a common goal of providing the best care for patients.”
“We look forward to the contribution Dr. Oladipo will make to high quality obstetrical care and to supporting other members of the obstetrical team,” Minister Henderson said.
Other QEH obstetrics/gynecologists include Dr. Peter Bethune, Dr. Krista Cassell, Dr. Shaun Ferguson and Dr. Frank MacDonald.
Dr. Oladipo has a wealth of obstetrics and gynecology experience in the United Kingdom and has published extensively in medical journals.
