April 28, 2016 Transportation, Infrastructure and EnergyConstruction season is beginning on Prince Edward Island and motorists are being reminded to drive with courtesy and care for the men and women who work to maintain provincial roads, says Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar.“The workers who build and repair our highway system carry out heavy physical work in all kinds of weather conditions. I ask Island drivers to use caution in construction areas, to observe the temporary speed limits in place and to treat road workers with the courtesy and care they deserve,” said Minister Biggar.“We want to be sure that they people who labour on our highways can return safely to their homes and families when the work day is done.”There are several hundred road workers employed by government and by private sector contractors during the construction season.Road work sites on Prince Edward Island are required to be marked and controlled to limit the risk of collision or injury.Media Contact: Ron Ryder
