Perivale and Taylor Consulting has won the bid to conduct a comprehensive consultation and review of policing services on Prince Edward Island.
“I am pleased that a successful candidate has been selected and work can begin on this important review,” Premier and Justice and Public Safety Minister Wade MacLauchlan said. “Police services on Prince Edward Island have a long-standing reputation for excellence and professionalism. I know the Island’s policing community will welcome this opportunity to provide input into the future direction of policing services for our citizens.”
The successful candidate, Perivale and Taylor Consulting, has more than twenty years' experience in policing reviews across Canada, including in the Maritimes, at the municipal, regional, provincial, territorial, and federal levels. The firm has also conducted international policing-related projects along with consulting work in government and private industry.
“We will employ a comprehensive and inclusive consultative approach to ensure that the ideas and concerns of stakeholders, community organizations, and citizens are recognized,” said Keith Taylor, President of Perivale and Taylor Consulting. “This community consultation will be complemented by input from the provincial government, elected officials, police leaders, and operational personnel. The consultation will focus on community safety needs and policing services.”
This is the first province-wide review of police services in more than 40 years – the last such review was the Grosman Report on Policing in Prince Edward Island in 1974. Subsequent reviews on individual departments were conducted in 1977, 1991, 2005, 2009 and 2012.
