From underwater sonars and 3D imaging systems that help ships avoid icebergs and navigate through rocky underwater terrain, to fiber optics systems and customized equipment that help offshore installations operate safely, Atlantic Canada’s ocean technology sector has what it takes to do business with the world.
A delegation of 18 Atlantic Canadian companies will be attending the Oceanology International 2016 conference in London, UK from March 15 -17 to establish new partnerships and increase their export sales. This bi-annual event connects over 500 leading global suppliers with international buyers from the entire supply chain. Atlantic companies who attended the 2014 event reported on-site sales of up to $1.8 million and projected between $4 and $8 million in anticipated sales in the year following the event.

• Atlantic Canada is also home to a number of leading ocean technologies research institutes dedicated to ocean engineering, ocean mapping, search and rescue, defense, offshore technologies, and more.
• A federal-provincial contribution of $227,000, which is being provided through the International Business Development Agreement (IBDA), will enable the participating companies at Oceanology International 2016 to create a significant and coordinated onsite presence through an Atlantic pavilion, as well as provide them with access to business networking opportunities.
• Oceanology International is a world-class conference that gathers global suppliers, contractors and end-users in the offshore and subsea industries. The last edition was the largest to date with approximately 8,410 attendees and 528 exhibiting companies from 35 countries.
