Islanders have a unique opportunity to shape the future of the province’s health care system by providing their input on Health PEI’s 2016-19 strategic plan, says Health PEI board chair Phyllis Horne.
“As our previous strategic plan comes to an end, Health PEI is in the process of developing a new strategic plan for the organization that will identify our priorities over the next three years,” said Ms. Horne. “It is important that we hear from Islanders as their feedback is important to ensuring that we continue to set priorities and develop the kinds of health care programs and services that best serve the needs of Islanders.”
The feedback from Islanders and stakeholder focus groups will be married with research gathered on current trends in health care, health trends on PEI, provincial health care priorities outlined by government, current health care services, Health PEI’s progress on past and current priorities, PEI health performance data, and information from provincial and national health care reports.
Health PEI’s strategic plan is a guiding document that sets out a three to five year direction for the province’s health care system. The Health Care Services Act mandates that Health PEI renew its strategic plan every three years.
“We want Islanders to be an active partner in their health care and this is one way in which we can hear first hand from everyone,” added Horne.
