Young Environmentalists Teach Composting

* Environment [to Apr 1996]
A team of Young Environmentalists from Kings County recently attended the Northumberland Fisheries Festival to demonstrate backyard composting to interested visitors.

The team, lead by Juliana Jorden, spoke with many people about composting techniques. "It's an easy way to get involved in reducing household waste, said Ms. Jorden. It only takes a few minutes each day and the end result is a rich organic soil conditioner that helps your garden and lawn to thrive," she added.

The Young Environmentalist Program wishes to thank those people who visited the display. Congratulations to Betty Anstel who won a backyard composting unit and Elmer Glover who received a t-shirt complements of Environmental Resources, Environmental Protection Division.
