Kings County Memorial Hospital is reporting no new confirmed cases of influenza among patients; however, visitor restrictions will remain in place as several patients and staff continue to experience influenza-like illness.
Visiting remains limited as follows:
• immediate family members only
• only two (2) visitors at one time per patient
• visits should be kept brief (15 minutes)
Additionally, children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit patients in hospital at this time.
Anyone coming to the hospital, including visitors and persons coming in for other health care services, is reminded to clean their hands before and after entering a patient’s room, a department, and upon entering and leaving the facility. Alcohol hand rinse stations are available throughout the building for this purpose.
The situation will be reassessed Thursday morning, during which time Kings County Memorial Hospital administration will be providing a further update.
Health PEI continues to remind Islanders to get a flu vaccine as it is the most effective way to prevent getting sick with influenza.
