Realignment of the entrance to Home Hardware in Stratford will improve safety for motorists, says Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar.
“This project is being undertaken in response to requests from the public and business owners in the area,” said Minister Biggar. “As a department, we attach the highest priority to public safety and I am confident this project will help improve the flow of traffic to and from local businesses.”
The realignment will result in the entrance to Home Hardware being located directly across the street to the entrance to Sobeys and the Stratford Liquor Store. At present, the entrances to the street are at different points, creating a hazard for motorists. The department worked with landowners on how best to make the changes. Total cost of the project is estimated at $100,000.
During the construction period, flag persons will be on site to direct traffic which is entering and leaving Home Hardware using the existing entrance. Traffic entering and leaving Sobeys and the Stratford Liquor Store will not be affected but some delays may be expected.
The project is scheduled to begin on October 5 and should be completed in a week to 10 days.
