Library outreach van brings the library to Islanders at community festivals and events

Education, Early Learning and Culture
A new outreach van is traveling the Island to community festivals and events to encourage more Islanders to use provincial library services, says Education, Early Learning and Culture Minister Hal Perry.

“The Library Enroute van has a wifi tech bar with iPads, tablets and laptops, so families can make use of our online services, sign up for a library card and participate in story time,” said Minister Perry. “Library EnRoute is a great way to promote literacy and the many resources and programs available through the Public Library Service.”

Full of technology and other library resources, Library EnRoute is a new way for library staff to connect with Islanders and showcase Public Library Service resources. Library staff travel with the van to answer questions and encourage Islanders to sign up for a library card.

Upcoming Library EnRoute visits include:

August 19 - Green Gables Heritage Place in Cavendish

September 26 – Stratford Community Expo at Stratford Town Centre

“Library EnRoute is a great program that has been able to get to communities all across the Island this summer. It has been a lot of fun interacting with children and adults, and educating them on our services,” said Outreach and Technical Services Library Assistant Keri McCaffrey. “By using Library EnRoute to showcase our services, we are able to connect with Islanders and give them an opportunity to explore everything our libraries have to offer.”

Community event organizers who would like Library EnRoute at their event can get in touch with the Public Library Service.
