Minister congratulates Jeff Ellsworth on winning Gold Medal at Pan Am Games

Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie extends congratulations on behalf of the Government of Prince Edward Island to Island softball player Jeff Ellsworth on his gold medal with Team Canada at the Pan Am Games.

This past weekend, the team took the top medal with a 2-1 win over Venezuela.

"Congratulations to Team Canada on the big win, and particularly to Jeff Ellsworth as he retires with a gold medal after a long and successful local and international softball career,” said Minister Currie. “Few Islanders have achieved this level of success in his sport and I speak for all Islanders when I say how proud we are of his outstanding accomplishments and see him going out on top of his game.”

Men's softball had not been played at the games since 2003, and Saturday's win was Canada's eighth consecutive Pan-Am Games title.
