The PEI Liquor Control Commission (PEILCC) is partnering with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, PEI, during the month of February as part of the annual Paper Hearts campaign. This fundraiser will run in all 18 PEI Liquor corporate retail outlets across the province from February 1 through to February 28.
“We are pleased to see our partnership continue with the PEI Liquor Control Commission again this year,” said Charlotte Comrie, Chief Executive Officer, PEI, Heart and Stroke Foundation. “We appreciate the tremendous support that has been generated for the organization through the Paper Hearts campaign, not only through customer donations but also by the ability to promote awareness.”
Each $2 paper heart purchased at a PEILCC corporate retail outlet will be displayed in-store to showcase the support from the community. The PEILCC has helped to generate in excess of $21,000 through this campaign over the last three years.
“The PEILCC is pleased to continue its partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation for a fourth year” noted Hon. Robert Henderson, minister responsible for the PEI Liquor Control Commission. “While this campaign is local in scope, it recognizes Prince Edward Island resident and stroke survivor Jen Bogart as the face of the Foundation’s June Stroke Month campaign.”
“Over the past 60 years, thanks to the work of the Foundation and the generosity of individuals and businesses, the death rate from heart disease and stroke has declined by over 75 per cent,” commented Comrie. “But with many lives still cut short or compromised by these devastating diseases, we remain committed to creating survivors on PEI, and we thank the PEILLC for helping us to fulfill that goal.”
